
Jerry Rafiki Jenkins holds a doctorate in Literature from the University of California, San Diego, and his work focuses on Black speculative fiction and film, with an emphasis on horror and future human studies. He is current Assistant Director of the Institute for African American Studies at the University of Georgia.

Dr. Jenkins received The Nosferatu Award for "New-Black Backness and Vampire Supremacism in 'Black as Night,'" a paper presented at the Popular Culture Association National Conference in 2026.
